Acceptable use policy
Last updated: 7 November 2026
This policy explains what you must and must not do when using Fyno. It forms part of our Terms of service. Fyno is a trading name of Simon Webb, a sole trader in the United Kingdom. Contact: support@fynopayments.co.uk.
We keep this list strict because Fyno helps people pay money from their bank accounts, and we take scams and fraud very seriously.
1. Businesses we can't support
You may not use Fyno to take payments for:
- anything illegal in the UK, or any business that requires a licence or registration you don't have
- gambling, betting, lotteries or prize draws (unless properly licensed and approved by us in writing)
- weapons, ammunition, explosives, or their parts
- illegal drugs, drug paraphernalia, or unlicensed medicines or "legal highs"
- adult content or sexual services
- cryptocurrencies, crypto-assets, NFTs or crypto exchanges
- money transfer, currency exchange, payment services or e-money (unless authorised and approved by us)
- investments, trading schemes, "get rich quick" schemes, pyramid or multi-level marketing schemes
- debt collection, debt relief, credit repair, or consumer credit you are not authorised to provide
- counterfeit, stolen or infringing goods
- tobacco, vapes or alcohol sold without the required licences or age checks
- anything that promotes hate, violence or discrimination
- any business on our payment partner's prohibited list
We may decline or close any account at our discretion where we think the risk is too high.
2. Things you must not do
You must not use Fyno to:
- Mislead or defraud anyone, including sending payment requests for goods or services you don't intend to provide, or for amounts customers haven't agreed to
- Impersonate another person or business, or send links that pretend to come from someone else
- Take payments for someone else (acting as a payment collector or aggregator for other businesses) unless we've agreed in writing
- Tell customers to pay a different account or encourage them to ignore Fyno's verified-payee information
- Misrepresent customer protection, for example by claiming Pay by bank payments have chargeback or Section 75 protection
- Launder money, or split, structure or move funds to avoid bank limits, checks or reporting
- Send spam or marketing through Fyno messages. Messages must relate to a real transaction with that customer
- Contact people without a lawful basis, or ignore requests to stop
- Upload or send anything unlawful, abusive, offensive, defamatory or infringing
- Interfere with Fyno, including attempting to hack, probe, scan or overload our systems, bypassing security or usage limits, or introducing malware
- Copy, resell or reverse engineer Fyno, or use it to build a competing product
- Use automated tools to access Fyno, except through APIs we provide and in line with their documentation
- Share accounts or let anyone use Fyno who isn't authorised by your business
3. Messaging rules
When you send payment requests by SMS, WhatsApp or email through Fyno:
- only message customers who have given you their contact details for that transaction
- make sure the amount, description and your business name are accurate
- don't include links to anything other than your Fyno payment page
- follow WhatsApp's Business Messaging Policy and any template rules we apply
- stop messaging anyone who asks you to
4. How we enforce this policy
We monitor for misuse, including unusual payment patterns, high failure rates, complaints and changes to bank details. If we believe you have broken this policy, we may, without notice:
- remove content or cancel payment requests
- limit features or suspend your account
- close your account
- report the matter to our payment partner, the police, Action Fraud, regulators or other authorities
Where the law allows, we'll explain why. You may be responsible for losses caused by your breach (see our Terms of service).
5. Reporting misuse or a suspected scam
If you think someone is misusing Fyno, or you've received a suspicious payment request that claims to come from Fyno, please email support@fynopayments.co.uk straight away. If you've lost money, contact your bank immediately and report it to Action Fraud at actionfraud.police.uk or on 0300 123 2040.
6. Changes
We may update this policy. The "last updated" date shows when it last changed. We'll tell business customers about significant changes.
